A user-friendly regulator

By staff

Easier ASIC documents? Everyone can breathe a sigh of relief.

Everyone can breathe a sigh of relief. The corporate regulator has decided to make its documents more readable and there will be fewer of them.

From now on, there will only be four types of regulatory documents - the still bewildering array of consultation papers, regulatory guides, reports and information sheets.

ASIC says it will no longer produce guides or policy statements - these will be replaced by a new "regulatory guide category".

The process has become all rather complex so ASIC has released a 'road map' on its website to help people find documents.

The design team has been working hard - new and simpler document layouts and templates are being rolled out.

True to form, ASIC issued a dense three-page document last week explaining how it was becoming more user-friendly.

EyeFA admits it had trouble following it.
