Colonial First State, Asgard Elements and Oasis are the best overall platforms, according to a poll of 1400 advisers by research firm Brandmanagement.

As part of the poll, advisers were asked to nominate the key attributes they look for when using platforms.

Advisers rated fees, functionality and service as the most important features. The platform winners won across all three of these categories.

Support, basic reporting and advance reporting were other categories nominated by advisers.

"The research reinforces that you get what you pay for when it comes to a platform," Brandmanagement head of market intelligence Craig Phillips said.

Advisers also rated the best three platforms according to each of the three top categories.

In the fee category, Skandia Global, Colonial First State and BT Financial Group took the top honours, while Asgard Elements, Macquarie Wrap and Asgard Master Trust rated the best in terms of functionality.

Colonial First State, Oasis and the Count product - Wealth e-Account offered the best service, according to the poll.

Phillips said the platform industry remained competitive.

"The market is clearly very mature and the ability of a platform to make significant efficiency leaps, compared to their competitors, is limited," he said.
